Kia Ora. I am a Year 6 student in Te Kauru at Paparore School. My blog is a collection of my work at various stages, across different curriculum areas. Throughout my time at Paparore School I may share draft copies of my work for feedback and feedforward. Other times I will share my final published pieces.

Spinning chair
Spinning chair
Today Te puawai and Te kauru went to the science roadshow. My favourite part was when I got to sit on the spinning chair. The guy gave me two weights. Then he spun the chair a little. He told me how to pick up speed and how to slow down.To speed up you have to tuck in your legs and to slow down you open your legs and put your arms out.
The Seven Sisters of Matariki
The Seven Sisters of Matariki
There was a young man named Mitai. He had seven older brothers. They all lived in a small village called Mangamuka. Mitai’s brothers were Collin, Kevin, John, DJ Khaled, Timo and Simo. They were all handsome men. One morning the seven brothers went hunting on the Paparore hills. Once they got there they heard beautiful singing. They followed the sound and saw seven pretty women. The seven brothers took them back to Mangamuka to make them their wives. Mitai didn’t like his brothers wives. ”They will do nothing but comb their golden hair’’! One day the seven sisters went out, so Mitai Followed them. Mitai turned into a Kereru and listened to their plan to starve the brothers to death. Mitai went to warn them. He said, “my brothers you used to be big and strong, now look at yourselves. You are nothing but skin and bone!” The oldest brother, Collin said, “what do we do?” “We must go to Te Rawhara!’’ replied Mitai. Te Rawhara gave them a magic net to trap the wahine. So the seven brothers snuck up on their wives and they threw the net over them. They were begging for their husbands to release them. Mitai turned into an Albatross and took them to the God of the stars. He asked her to send them far, far from the Earth. Once a year she lets them shine bright.

Kaia All About Me
WALT - We are learning to share our learning with other people.
All About Me
I have eleven people in my family. They live in Tokoroa and Auckland. I love my family so much that I want to live with them. They have a basketball hoop at their house. I was born 2009 on November the 26th in Auckland. My friends are Kalani, Aurora and Cage. My cousins are Mason, Taki, Letong Hamia and Mahlia. All of my cousins are younger than me. The youngest is Mahlia. She is 13 or 12 months old.She is cute too. I love my family. When I go to School I get to play a lot inside and outside. When the bell rings I go into class. I love going to school. On the bus we are not allowed to talk but people still talk and the bus driver always growls us. I like to do horse riding because it's fun and cool. That’s all about me!
